About Me
Alicia Lue Philippe, MSW, RSW (she/her)
Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
My life's passion is to support and advocate for individuals who have been impacted by interpersonal trauma (abuse) while also examining and disrupting the systems that allow violence and abuse to occur. I identify as a feminist woman of colour and this very much frames how I interact with the world. I am very interested in the critical examination of privilege and oppression, patriarchy, and gender socialization.
My practice is embedded in a feminist, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive framework using elements of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), dialectical behavioural (DBT), psychodynamic and attachment-based psychotherapies. I consider both the individual, personal characteristics as well as the external, environmental, macro-level systems that influence and impact us all.
I obtained the Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Toronto in 2013, specializing in Social Justice and Diversity. Since then, I have had varied professional experience working in private practice, childhood trauma and abuse, intimate partner violence, community mental health and social program development.
I am the child of Jamaican immigrants to Canada and mama to a precocious young child. My interests include travel, learning about history and gaining knowledge of random facts (I'm a big fan of Wikipedia!).
